police say was its purpose. and it may be the most unusual traffic hazard ever. how a camel ended up in east bay traffic and the cowboys who save the day. good evening, i'm ken bastida. >> three men found shot to death inside a home on ross station road and the killer has not been found yet. kpix5 reporter, joe vazquez, is there. joe. >> reporter: as you can see behind me, crime scene investigators are on the scene. there's yellow tape all around what is essentially a compound of houses here. the sheriff department spokesman says three men were shot to death inside a bedroom of one of the houses on the back part of the property. a couple discovered the bodies of the men shot to death around 3:15. a girlfriend and boyfriend. the boyfriend is the brother of one of the victims. he came by to check on his brother because he hadn't checked on him. the sheriff spokesman said a

neighbor reported hearing gun shots, but not saying anyone heard arguing or any other noises before the shooting. the sheriff department spokesman said they are confident they will catch whoever did this and neighbors shouldn't be concerned about being in danger right now. >> this was not a random crime. so i don't believe that there's any danger to any of the citizens of sonoma county or anywhere else. >> when you say this wasn't a random crime, what do you mean by that? >> i'm not going to get into the details of our investigation at this time, it's too early. >> reporter: the sheriff spokesman says none of the suspects lives here, but one of them has a family member associated with this property. homicide out here are extremely rare. they say the last time they had a triple shooting here, they believe was early 80s. reporting live in sonoma county, joe vazquez, cbs 5. >> police are close to releasing more details about a

woman being found killed in a park. this is the last photo of janelle allen. she was found dead the next morning at allan witt park. so far, there's no word on how she died or who may have killed her. police tell us that they will have more information tomorrow. and a brentwood family is pleading for help finding their daughter, torre stevenson has been missing since friday afternoon. her mom told us that torre's boyfriend dropped her off for a job interview in the tenderloin here in san francisco. she told him that she would call him in an hour to pick her up, but no one has heard from her since. >> if you see this, please call me. call mike. call the san francisco police. we will come and get you. we will come and get you,

anywhere you are, please. please call. >> the missing girl is 5'4", 110-pounds with long brown hair, hazel eyes and tattoos on her forearms and you're being asked to call police if you see her. we're learning that the bunker where a five-year-old boy was held hostage was rigged with explosives. fbi agents stormed in before they could go off. cbs reporter, mark tells us how agents got the boy out safely. >> reporter: this video is our first glimpse of the property. the scene of the seven-day standoff. sources tell us when dykes climbed the ladder to get supplies monday and reached up to open the door, he was off balance and vulnerable. agents believed ethan would be away from the ladder and protected. when rescue team members saw the door open, they dropped two stun grenades. the noise and flashes disoriented him. within seconds, four team members entered the bunker.

officials believe they fired a shot at him, but missed, they returned fire multiple times killing dykes and rescuing the boy. ethan with his mother. ethan's mother released a statement of thanks saying, i woke up to the most beautiful sight, my sweet little boy. i can't describe how incredible it is to hold him again. ethan's relatives say physically he seems fine, but they are worried about long- term emotional injuries. ethan was physically unharmed, but relatives are worried about long-term emotional injuries. the boy has been released from the hospital just in time for his sixth birthday on wednesday. mark, cbs news, midland city, alabama. >> as for the motive for the boy's abduction, dykes was an antigovernment survivalist and wanted to get media attention in the wake of the newtown massacre. he originally planned to kidnap two kids from the bus, but the driver who he shot to death stopped him. he even asked the fbi for a tv reporter so he could speak his

peace. well, it's a legendary lab, neighbors in san francisco revere the design. they even helped maintain it and enjoy walking through it daily. for years, the mystery remains, nobody knew who built it. it's on the south side near anderson. kpix reporter tells us the story of who is behind it. >> reporter: at first blush, it looks like nothing more than a pile of rock than a clearing off the boulevard. but take a look from on high. this is a carefully constructed lab. >> it's very peaceful. you start to walk around it and it's really nice. >> one that this community has come to cherish. >> it appeared mysteriously, sometime in 2008. >> someone unanimously made it. >> that someone has a shady past. this is the handy work of an alleged stalker who is on

trial. >> there is a guy who was stalking a young girl, made the laberant and invited her to walk through. >> that is intense. that makes me feel less good about it. >> a guy that doesn't know when to let go. >> the san francisco district attorney's office says 34-year- old cesar lopez, a self- described artist is on trial. that he stalked the girl for ten years and blogged about her in this online forum where he rambles about love. he also erected laberance and finally this one, which led to his arrest. the stalking finally ended last year when lopez invited the girl to the laberant for a cleansing ritual, instead, police met him here. neighbors say the checkered back story only adds to the mystery. >> art comes from weird places sometimes. >> strange.

>> it won't stop them from seeking out this bright spot with a dark past. >> does it kill it for you? >> no. it will be in the back of my head from now on. >> in san francisco, kpix5. checking bay area headlines, surveillance cameras captured a deadly high speed chase in oakland. the jeep was taken moments before it slammed into a honda at 36 and foothill yesterday. the woman behind the wheel of that stolen jeep was killed. the honda driver was not seriously hurt. a man suspected of running down a mother and two kids then speeding away has been arrested. the woman was pushing her one- year-old in a stroller and walking beside her seven-year- old on a bike in a crosswalk. all three went to the hospital. the kids were treated and released. witnesses helped police track down 24-year-old a short time later. he is facing felony hit-and-run

charges. and thousands of san francisco building owners may face some expensive reconstruction. two city supervisors are proposing an ordinance requiring all soft story buildings be retrofitted by 2020. nearly 3,000 wood framed buildings built before 1978 would be affected. part of the plan will provide landlord loans to finance the work. new at 10:00, a bay area road had to be shut down -- a run away camel. juliette. >> yes, they did. we got the call to go cover this story. i wasn't sure what we would find. we found the camel in the middle of the street. he was roaming around today and tonight it was touch and go trying it get him back in the trailer. tonight, half a dozen eastbound

cowboys had the tricky task of corralling rudy into this trailer along bayly road. several ropes were attached to the camel and truck to help guide rudy into the trailer. we intentionally did not turn on our camera light so we wouldn't spook him. >> this is quite a big assignment here. >> i've been a cowboy my whole life. this is just, like i said, on the ranch it is creative ingenuity. whatever is going to work. we need to get this thing in the trailer. >> this afternoon, rudy was walking south on bailey road, cars reportedly swerving to miss him. this camera weighs more than a ton and his owner tells us he's about 12 years old. >> the other day he was on our property, which he went back easily. so we figured it would be the same. >> the camel roams around?

for the last month in california and cynthia harris says there are many reasons why. >> we've had some refinery issues. some plant shutdowns and others that weren't planned. also, there has been an increase in the price of crude oil and more consumption by consumers. >> not to mention the turmoil in algeria. but cheap or expensive, how much americans pay for gasoline over the long-term is fueling calls for change. a new report by an environmental watchdog group estimates the american car owner will spend more than $22,000 on gas over the lifetime of an average vehicle. >> that is a lot of money. it could be as much or more money than you spent on the vehicle itself. >> and that total could be going up. many analysts expect gas prices will stay high or go higher over the next few months. not the road most drivers would choose, but most won't have a

courtroom deco a miami woman has learned a tough lesson about proper courtroom decorum. penelope was before a judge on a drug charge and she got the giggles. in front of judge judy, man. when he scolded her, she talked back. when he doubled her bail, she flipped him off, not smart. >> did you say -- did you say that? >> yes, sir, i did. >> oh, you did say that? 30 days in the county jail. >> 30 days should be plenty of time to figure out how to behave before a judge.

still no answers about that super bowl blackout. the operators of the new orleans superdome say they are hiring outside experts to find out why power failed for 34 minutes during sunday's game. documents released show stadium managers were concerned as early as october about power lines feeding into the superdome. the replacement work was done weeks before the game and no, it was not beyonce's hair dryer. >> that's good to know. while the ravens were having their super bowl victory parade today, the 49ers were doing this. cleaning out their lockers. the team locked up after their final team meeting. the players talked about the heartbreak of coming up just five yards shy of a world championship, but coach harbaugh said the players have learned how to be winners. >> they played up to the hype. they played up to the competition. at the game's highest level. >> the players won't be here
